Hi, there. I'm Julie.

Into: reading books that inspire positive change, arranging furniture to create a more harmonious and balanced living space, following the moon cycles, and maximizing my time on earth.

THE BEST $12 I EVER SPENT.
At the age of 23, I walked into my first yoga class. That single investment led me to becoming a yoga teacher, Ayurvedic yoga specialist and award-winning author.

An old soul with a name that literally means “youthful one,” it's no wonder I love yoga and Ayurveda, and sharing the ancient wisdom from these sister sciences.

I grew up in libraries and still love visiting different libraries to this day. I’d stay up way past my bedtime to read and wake up early on Saturday mornings to devour an entire book before I even got out of bed.

I always knew I wanted to be an author. I wrote and illustrated my first book in second grade—all in pencil!

From Type A+ to Type A-/B+

I had perfect attendance all throughout school—even college. I’m not kidding when I say I never missed a day of school. I showed up, put in the work and didn’t miss a beat. I did extra credit even with my 4.0 GPA. I graduated college with my first job already lined up. Without a break, I jumped right into the fast track to burnout.

A few months into my first job, I found myself driving in grid-lock traffic yet again, hands tightly gripping the steering wheel, jaws clenched, shoulders tense. I thought: I need to try yoga. That night, I walked into my first yoga class and before I left the room, I knew I would one day teach yoga. I went home after class and read my horoscope and it mentioned yoga

2010

Became a Yoga Teacher

Two years after walking into my first yoga class, I became a certified and registered yoga teacher. 2010 was a big year for me. In addition to becoming a yoga teacher, I moved out of my parents’ house, planned my wedding, got married and changed jobs. The only way I was able to survive all of these major life changes was because of yoga!

2019

Became an Author

None of my journalism background prepared me for the publishing world. In 2018, I submitted a customized manuscript to a different publisher every weekend for four months straight. When I submitted my last manuscript, it felt different from all the rest. I thought: This is the publisher who is going to help publish my book. And it was. Eight months later, 108 Yoga and Self-Care Practices for Busy Mamas was born.

2020

Second Book Published

No one was prepared for the stress of a pandemic, not even a meditating yoga teacher. My young kids were remote learning by day and by night, I was writing my second book, How to Stay Calm in Chaos: An Everyday Self-Care Guide

During the very first yoga class I ever taught online, my power went out (which meant my WiFi did, too) not once but twice on a sunny day. The stars aligned when it went back on and I finished teaching the class.

Became an Advanced Yoga Teacher

After a decade of experience teaching yoga and continuing to discover more about this ancient practice that has brought millions of people peace for 5,000 years, I decided to enroll in an advanced yoga teacher training program. So glad I did because it was just the program I was looking for.

2023

Became an Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist

I had been practicing Ayurveda throughout writing my books, being a mom to young kids and getting through the pandemic, and so I decided to enroll in Kathryn Templeton’s Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist program to take my Ayurvedic yoga practice to the next level.

Today

You’ll most likely find me behind a screen (I’m a writer!), making macaroni and cheese and chocolate chip pancakes (my specialties!), on a yoga mat (the only place I ever see people without a smartphone!) or getting some fresh air.
