Mantra for Moms: I Know When to Stop

Updated: Dec 5

Hit the "pause" button for self-care on National Relaxation Day. Rather than getting swept up in the whirlwind of life, slow down with the mantra, "I know when to stop."

Green means go, go, go. Seems like that’s how we’re all programmed these days, right?

When you see the word “relax,” what do you think of?

Some words that come to mind for me are self-care, yoga, reading, journaling, slow down, unwind and take your time.

There's actually a day dedicated to relaxation. It's August 15—National Relaxation Day. It's a day to remind us to hit the “pause” button.

What happens when we relax and press “pause” on the constant striving and accomplishing, even for a little bit?

Trust yourself that you know when to stop and when to rest. And don’t stop with this day. Build relaxation pauses into your schedule every day.

This video is part of A Second for Yourself—a video series on my Stand Up for Your Self-Care YouTube Channel that encourages you to create mindfulness in your busy day.

Journal About It: I Know When to Stop

Get your journal and a pen and find a quiet spot. What’s one thing you can do today to press “pause”? For me, it’ll be not looking at my phone for a few hours. How will this help you change gears from "doing" to "being"?
